The Story of The Lighthouse

In 1904, Guglielmo Marconi chose Bari's lighthouse to establish the first commercial wireless radio link across the Adriatic Sea. The signal connected Bari with Montenegro, opening a new era of communication between nations.

The story has an unexpected Irish connection. Marconi's mother, Annie Jameson, was the granddaughter of John Jameson, founder of the world-famous Jameson Irish Whiskey. Through Marconi, the histories of Bari and Ireland became linked in a remarkable and lasting way.

That unique connection inspired The Lighthouse Irish Pub. Our name is more than a reference to the nearby lighthouse—it celebrates a place where history, innovation, and Irish heritage meet. Just as Marconi's signal connected two shores across the Adriatic, we hope our pub brings people together over good food, fine drinks, and genuine hospitality.

Whether you're visiting Bari for the first time or you're one of our regulars, we invite you to become part of the story.
